Run Captain's Page

My name is Richard Bardon and I’m the ABC Run captain, responsible for road racing and cross country. 

In 2009 Ashurst Bike Club became affiliated to UK Athletics under the running team name of ABC Runners.  As ABC Runners we are also affiliated to the Manchester & District Cross Country League.

We promote road racing, such as the Four Villages half marathon and cross country throughout the year including  other fell races in the area such as Parbold Hill Race and the Ashurst Beacon Fell Race.

Our main run session is on Tuesday nights from Central Fitness, St Helens.  These are structured sessions using the roads, parks and hills around the St Helens area.

In addition to this we co-ordinate a 'Bat Run' on a Thursday night, a head torch run from various locations in the West Lancs, Merseyside areas - keep an eye on the forum and email for those details.

When you join ABC, let us know if you want to be affiliated to UK Athletics on a personal level and we will register you.  This is an extra £5.50 per year on club membership, but is easily covered in 2 or 3 road or fell race entries.
